We'd like to introduce ourselves. We are Mike and Laura Argyle, founders of North Shore Trading Company, with various remote locales in Hawaii. Our headquarters are based in Traverse City, Michigan.

In 1998, we made our first trip to Hawaii together. We were initially awed by the islands' beauty and captivated by the Hawaiian culture. As we sat down for a casual breakfast at a small beachside café in Hawaii, we had our first encounter with Hawaiian Kona Coffee. The palm trees framed a beautiful sunrise over the ocean waves, which seemed to sing out "Aloha!" Like many travelers, we looked forward to our first cup of morning brew made from gourmet coffee beans. We took a sip and looked up simultaneously in astonishment. That first taste became the beginning of our journey into the wondrous world of Hawaiian Kona Coffee.

Fascinated with our new discovery, we decided to take a half-day to tour some of the coffee estates of the Kona Coast, on the Big Island of Hawaii, where Kona Coffee originates. The estates have tasting rooms, where you are told about the growing, processing and history of Kona Coffee. Well, that half-day turned into a whole day – and throughout our vacation, we continued to visit more estates, and sampled more Hawaiian Kona Coffee.

Ever since, we have been studying and learning more about Kona Coffee – and going back to Hawaii at every opportunity to contact coffee organizations and conduct research. We seek out growers from estates that have been recognized with awards from the Kona Coffee Cupping Competition and get to know them and their gourmet coffee beans well. We also conduct our own sampling to determine which of the Hawaiian coffees we find most outstanding.

We love 100% Kona Coffee almost as much as we love Hawaii. Luckily, since we spend a lot of time in Hawaii now and drink Kona Coffee all the time, we don't have to choose between the two.
